10 Major Facts From The Davido, Dele Momodu And Baby Mama Drama

Davido takes baby mama drama to new heights

Award-winning Afro-pop singer, Davido (real name is David Adeleke), may not be in the right frame of mind to celebrate the arrival of the New Year, following his involvement in an alleged child abduction controversy.
While fellow artistes and their respective families continue to clink glasses today in celebration of 2016, it appears the singer will be preoccupied with getting over the controversy, which also involves the mother of his seven-month-old daughter, Sophie Momodu.
According to reports monitored online, Davido and Sophie, who are both unmarried, had been in a quiet struggle for the possession of the child.
Matters assumed a different dimension on Tuesday when the artiste and his half-sister, Ashely Adeleke, were reportedly prevented from travelling to Dubai with the child by immigration officials at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
The officials, it was said, acted in response to a petition from Sophia, which claimed that the singer and his folks had abducted her daughter. The immediate result was an altercation on social media between Davido and his folks on one hand and Sophie, as well as her cousin and publisher of OVATION magazine, Dele Momodu, on the other.
However, Davido is not the first popular Nigerian artiste to find himself entangled in what is now known as the ‘baby mama’ syndrome. At different times in their career, the likes of Tuface Idibia, Ice Prince, Timaya and Wizkid have had to accept responsibility for unwanted pregnancies. They had also faced the challenges of early fatherhood.
Tuface Idibia
Before he finally settled down to marriage with his lover of many years, actress Annie Macaulay, Tuface allegedly had six children from four different women. One of the baby mamas known as Pero was the subject of a recent ‘kissing drama’ on social media that was stoutly refuted by the popular singer himself and his wife.
Timaya
After he quit an emotionally draining relationship with a Nollywood actress, a few years ago, Timaya finally found love with Barbara, who is the mother of his two daughters. But the singer has been silent on marriage with the lady, who has turned out to be his biggest fan.
Wizkid
Wizkid’s baby mama, Sola Ogudugu, gave birth to their son, Boluwatife, while the artiste was still having a relationship with his girlfriend, Tania Omotayo. But it seems that he has finally dumped the relationship to get closer to Sola.
Of course, modern highlife big boy, Flavour, is steadily entrenching himself as a force to reckon with in the baby mama business.

But in spite of all that has happened recently with celebrities and the dramas revolving around them, nothing has been quite as big and as lasting as the current scuffle between Davido, Sophia Momodu (his ‘baby mama’) and her uncle Dele Momodu. And as we wake up to newer revelations with each passing day, below are 10 lessons we can draw so far from the ensuing drama: 1. Davido was unhappy about Sophia’s pregnancy as he clearly didn’t expect a child with her – According to him, on learning that Sophie was pregnant for him, his mind was bemused and his soul confused. He however said he accepted his responsibility for the sad misadventure that put him on a flight with her, a flight headed nowhere. 2. There is no love lost between Davido Adeleke and Dele Momodu – Dele Momodu has come out to say Sophie was ‘comprehensively scandalized’. In a statement released on January 4, the Ovation publisher said details circulating in the media of his cousin being a cannabis smoker is so bad ‘nothing could have been cruelest’. 3. Baby Imade was allegedly ‘forcefully’ taken away from her mum on July 11, 2015 – Contrary to claims that baby Imade was to be taken abroad for treatment, Mr. Momodu says this has been an unwarranted fabrication of endless lies to justify the act of forcefully taking a baby from her biological mother. Momodu claims the baby had been ‘forcefully separated’ from her mother at only two months old, and there were pleas for months for her to be returned to her biological mother but all Sophia got was the opportunity to visit her daughter once a week, specifically on Sundays. 4. Claims that Imade was unwell might be untrue – This is because when Imade was taken abroad for alleged treatments, she had in fact being with her aunt, Ashley Adeleke (Davido’s sister), in Dubai as they were both swimming in the pool of Atlantis, The Palm Dubai, a luxury resort.
